Its almost Spring again and a year ago I was still serving our Made from Scratch local breakfast and lunch menu daily. We were also still serving our great brunch specials on the weekends at our Gypsy Cafe. We had added new beers on tap and also some new great local wines for our upcoming Dinner menu. Our house Bloody Marys and our fresh squeezed Mimosas were always in demand for brunch on the weekends and our cozy interior was still full of Fresh flowers and things to amuse.
Dinners were coming back on Fridays trying to fill the void created by losing our neighbors K&L Bistro and East West Cafe on Main Street. We looked forward to seeing you at the Gypsy and hoped you would dine with us soon. And Now as I sit across town hearing of more and more closures, I know its still hard for people to understand there just aren’t enough workers or customers to make life normal again. Missing life as we knew it but hoping to design something near you soon.

Thanks to The Patch
It sure been our pleasure to serve Heirloom Tomatoes all summer thanks to the Calderon Family who own The Patch in Sonoma. I love riding my bike on the trail in Sonoma and seeing this marvelous patch of amazing vegetables surrounded by wild berries. This beloved farmers market family contributes the best tomatoes, beets, corn, squash to our restaurant and to our family meals. So blessed to be in Sonoma County.
Sabena from Africa
Our wonderful Sabena has been in Mombasa for the last year at the Aga Kahn Academy teaching young students from all over Africa. This was Sabena’s first appointment after graduating Davis last spring. As a champion of the environment and with her strong will to empower young people around the world to have a voice in their future, Sabena is leader and a friend. We await her return to see what’s next for this amazing visionary.
