The thing about Sonoma County is people have strong roots. Strong roots to the land they were raised on, roots to growing food, raising animals, making cheese and cider and wine. So many people have families that have been here for generations. The Gypsy suppliers are local families and when the going got tough, people stuck together and helped each other.
Immigrants have come to our county for decades because we needed their help, and to many it reminds them of home.
It may take some time to recover what we just lost in this fire storm, but I know Sonoma County will rise from the ashes with love and grace. Come visit when things calm down and support our local businesses to rebuild our strength and hope
Compassion for our friends
Today at the Gypsy, food and solace went hand in hand. So many hugs from strangers looking for their new compass. Heart wrenching stories each told with disbelief as if nothing really happened. Those who have sent lunch to those who lost everything. Ideas blossomed for a clothing drive, shared housing and numbers exchanged. It feels like dark times yet the love I saw today was so real, compassion driven and present. I am thankful to those who can rise above this tragedy and still reach out. So much to do as this fire ravages our homes our hearts our beautiful county.
7th inning stretch Here we go
The Gypsy Cafe is starting year number 7 in Downtown Sebastopol on Main St. And I have so many people to thank for the years of joyful fun. Thanks to all the wonderful regulars who come and enjoy our cafe year after year and thanks to all of my wonderful staff who have dedicated their lives to our success along the way. We are one big happy family and it makes work delightfully easy. Well maybe not easy, since we run from open to closing but its always a joy to chat with our friends and neighbors while eating German’s amazing food. Who knew we would have a great landlord, a great posse and a great time for the past 6 years. So heres to another year and another year and another year in our sweet little town of Sebastopol.
