Heirloom tomato BLT
Its that time of year and there is nothing better than local summer produce like the incredible heirloom tomatoes we are putting into our signature Candied Bacon BLT this weekend. Sayer Farms in Windsor is the brain child of Peggy Sayer wife of winemaker Rick Sayer who manage to grow the best veggies in town to go with Ricks amazing wines at Rodney Strong. Beans,squash-summer and fall, eggplant, tomatoes, watermelon, apples abound and do not forget the cucumbers.
Gravenstein apples are here
Love driving and seeing the signs. Our heritage Gravenstein apples are ready for eating, for picking, for making cider for enjoying. I love when you smell apples in the breeze. I love seeing the roadside stands heading out 12 to the beach. Apples have always been the prize fruit. Crisp and tart yet full of summer sweetness. Come celebrate in Sebastopol this weekend.
Fresh is best
Every time I pick a tomato or a few beans from my garden I realized how important it is to know just where your food is coming from. So because I own the Gypsy I think you should know we try really hard to buy local fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods and meats. Thank god for this time of year when the bounty is plentiful and tomatoes are starting to come to life.
